Seychelles’ hospitality industry has once again been thrown into the spotlight, as five Seychelles resorts have been bestowed with a prestigious travel award in China.
Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, Frégate Island Private, Maia Luxury Resort & SPA, North Island and Six Senses Zil Pasyon, are featured among the recipients of the 2018 Condé Nast Traveler China Gold List awards.
The award ceremony was held on August 18, in Beijing, China.
Condé Nast is a New York-based mass media company, owning an impressive portfolio of print and media brands, and boasts millions of consumers across the globe.
The Gold List, established by Condé Nast over twenty years ago, serves to highlight the best hotels in the world, based on the votes of its editors, as well as travel writers and travel industry experts.
The first Condé Nast Traveler China Gold List awards published in 2014 also takes into account the votes of Chinese travellers, when deciding on the winners.
“This shows the progress of our new strategy launch last year targeting the travel savvy, rather than focusing only on arrival numbers. Good examples of that are the increase of sales from many of our more luxury travel agents” said Mr. Lai-Lam, Director for China.
The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), office in China and the Seychelles’ trade partners works closely with Condé Nast Traveler China to promote the destination through various projects.
The STB office in China collaborated with the publication for a destination photo shoot in 2016, whereby a feature about the destination made the cover of the high-end lifestyle magazine.
The Condé Nast Traveller China team were also invited to explore the beautiful Seychelles islands, as part of a media familiarization trip.
Alongside the US and UK editions, Condé Nast Traveler China is positioned and recognized as the beacon of luxury and lifestyle travel magazine by the Chinese press.
Besides the Global Best Island Resorts category, the 2018 China Gold List also features the best airports, cruises, travel agencies and airlines, as well as an award category for hotels in China.
