The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) has appointed the leading Mumbai-based niche destination, marketing and communication management firm – Blue Square Consultants (BSC) – as its official representative in India.

BSC specialises in promoting and developing international travel products in India, from where there is a strong outbound market.

STB's outgoing CEO, Elsia Grandcourt said upon the appointment last month that “we are excited for this new partnership and look forward to welcoming more Indian visitors to our country”.

She also noted that with improved visibility on the Indian market, the tourism board was confident that Seychelles would appeal as an exotic destination to Indian travellers as they continue to look for new exciting holiday spots.

Lubaina Sheerazi, head of BSC's Business Development, sees Seychelles as appealing to newly-weds as well as to adventure and luxury seekers. Disclosing her marketing plans, she said it is aimed at increasing visibility for Seychelles through road shows, participation in trade fairs and exhibitions as well as in the media.

Tourism and Culture Minister, Alain St Ange, noted that Seychelles has a long-standing relationship with India, which dates to the era before the opening of the international airport in 1972, when the shipping lines of India provided the country with regular services to the outside world.
