The Vanilla Islands of Comoros, Mayotte, Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion and Seychelles stand to benefit from more recognition, with the popular Reunion’s ‘7 Magazine’ dedicating a weekly full page to the regional grouping.
The last issue in June carried a report on the last ministerial meeting of the organisation that was held in Madagascar earlier this month. It was at this meeting that saw the re-election of Alain St Ange as the President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands, that an agreement was reached with the editor of 7 Magazine, Mr Aziz Patel, to feature the grouping on a regular basis.
The same issue also spoke of the unity of purpose between the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands, when they responded to the call by Madagascar to be present at its International International Tourism Fair 2013.
Each member destination of the Vanilla Islands has its own particular attractions and it is felt that they have a lot to gain by marketing themselves as one grouping, allowing potential vacationers to visit two or more islands during one long-haul trip from Europe, Asia or the Americas.
