Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture on La Reunion TV - 'Face A L'Eco' of Antenne Réunion
Seychelles’ Tourism and Culture Minister, Alain St Ange, has stressed the need for the islands of the Indian Ocean region to be united and be committed towards working together to promote tourism in the region.
Minister St Ange, who was in neighbouring Reunion recently on a working visit, was guest on ‘Antenne Reunion Television’ in the ‘Face a l'Eco’ programme and said Reunion, Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Mayotte, must come together under the banner of the Vanilla Islands. They will be joined next year by the Maldives.
He said this will help to boost the tourism industry of each of our islands and create employment for the people of each and very island in the region.
The TV interview also focused on Seychelles, where Minister St Ange said that current statistics reveal a 15% growth in visitor arrivals. He noted that this comes at a time when some other destinations are facing difficult times and dropping their rates, and in so doing, rendering the entire region cheaper.
