The Contestants for Miss Seychelles...another world 2013

The second beauty pageant under the theme “Miss Seychelles- another world", which is organised by the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), is being held on May 25, at Eden Island Plaza.

The 14 contestants aged between 18 and 22 and are mostly students. Since March they are being groomed, five days a week for the great event, the winner of which will represent our islands at the Miss World pageant, taking place this year in Bali, Indonesia.

Beryl Matatiken, the STB's Director for Events and Conferences said at a rehearsal this week that since  the girls are expected  to be impressive and of a high level, they are being trained in relaxation, posture and the catwalk, in addition to regular auditions to develop their intellectual capacity.

The girls have visited some tourism sites, including Curieuse island, second natural habitat of the famous Coco de Mer, on Praslin and also the Sans Souci Mission Lodge, a mountain cultural site.

Since the winners will be involved in charitable work, they have also visited three orphanages.

After parading on the catwalk in various outfits: casual wear, swimwear and evening gowns, the contestants will also answer questions from the jury on various subjects, such as beauty with a purpose, the role of women in modern society, Seychelles as a tourism destination and the environment.

Miss Seychelles-Another world 2013, will take home cash prizes, return tickets to some foreign destinations, jewellery and top quality dresses.

Before the grand announcement, several girls will be designated “Miss Photogenic", Miss Personality and “Best Evening gown".. Miss Seychelles-Another world 2013, will also become the destination's international ambassador to be present at all trade fair in overseas markets, investment forums and other functions that will benefit from the presence of Seychelles' beauty queen.

She will also attend local prestigious events.
