Trade Fair 2013: Paris Seychelles Tourist Office sets off in full swing

The Seychelles Tourist Office in Paris started off the year in full swing by attending three consumer fairs in Benelux and Scandinavia. The Seychelles Tourist Office Manager Karen Confait attended all three fairs that were held in Benelux & Scandinavia.

The trade fair took place in Vakantiebeurs, Utrecht in Holland from 8th to 13th January 2013. The fair was attended by 102,393 visitors and the Seychelles Islands showcased an 18sqm stand. The delegation was also made up of two trade partners from Seychelles Ste Anne Beachcomber Resort and Spa and Coco De Mer Hotel. The first day of the fair was a platform for all trade partners to meet and discuss the future.  The Seychelles Tourist Office had several meetings with their main tour operators and also Emirates airlines to discuss joint marketing plans for this year.

In MATKA in Helsinki, Finland, the event had 76,477 visitors in total and was held from 16th to 20th January 2013. The Seychelles Tourist Office had a small 9sqm stand, which saw representation by two partners; L’Archipel Hotel and Coco de Mer Hotel.

On the same note Salons Vacances in Brussels, Belgium the trade fair was held from 31st to 4th February 2013. There was quite a large trade partner’s delegation namely; Banyan Tree, Coco de Mer Hotel, L’Archipel Hotel and Seychelles European Reservation.

Overall, all three fairs were very successful with Seychelles Tourist Office receiving many visitors at the stand which was very busy on most days. The visitors were very interested in knowing Seychelles, particularly those in the process of planning their trip to Seychelles this year. There were many requests for honeymoons and also for diving.

As for MATKA and Salon Vacances a few tour operators produced several offers and packages for Seychelles which were distributed at the stand.

In general Seychelles is becoming more and more known in these two regions and our presence on these fairs is very important to continue increasing destination awareness, gain new contacts and generate more business in general.

These three fairs are the largest of their kind in these regions and as a result they are very popular with consumers.
