by STB

Seychelles Minister St. Ange and St. Kitts Minister O. Skerritt
The Caribbean Islands and the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands sit on the opposite of the world from each other as does the islands of St. Kitts and the Seychelles, nevertheless the Tourism Ministers of these two islands still see areas for cooperation.

Minister Richard O. Skerritt, the St. Kitts Minister responsible for Tourism and International Transport and Minister Alain St.Ange, Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture met during the Caribbean Tourism Organisation State of the Tourism Industry Conference.

The Seychelles Minister had travelled to St. Kitts to address their Organisation’s 2012 Conference where he was greeted on his arrival at the airport at St. Kitts by Minister O. Skerritt. They exchanged ideas on how to work on joint approaches as islands nations dependent on tourism, they also agreed on the need for long haul tourism destinations such as the Caribbean Islands and the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands to continue to lobby against the UK Carbon Tax which is working against the continued development of these island nations where their environments have been protected as part of their tourism attractions.

When he took the podium at the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s, Minister St.Ange played Seychelles tourism promotional DVD to showcase the island’s natural attractions to a full conference room of Caribbean Islanders and invited panelists and press.

Minister St.Ange has also issued an invitation to Minister O. Skerritt to visit the Seychelles.
