by STB

The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) has welcomed the decision of Air Austral to increase its flights from La Reunion to twice a week as from end October this year.

The announcement was made following meetings between Gerard Ethève, the president of Air Austral, his delegation and Alain St Ange, the director of tourism marketing.

The Air Austral delegation was in Seychelles last week for meetings with the government and also with the STB to discuss the relaunch of Seychelles as a tourism destination in Reunion.

"We are happy that we have agreed to work together to relaunch Seychelles in La Reunion" said Mr St Ange.

"We have a good potential market on that market and we will now work with Air Austral to increase the number of visitors from our sister island of Reunion.”

A trade workshop is being planned for the end of August to coincide with the announcement of the airline’s second flight to Seychelles, at which Mr St Ange and the chairman of the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association, Mr Louis D'Offay will be joined by Mr. Ethève, to address a press conference in Saint Denis.

Air access to Seychelles remains a key to the success of the country's tourism industry, and STB was happy with this latest announcement by Air Austral.  Only last month, Kenya Airways also announced that it will be introducing a third flight to Seychelles this month.
