In line with its efforts to tap into the different holidaymaker markets in Reunion, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) took part in a workshop targeting the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) segment.
The two-day workshop was held on March 1 and 2, in the city of Saint Gilles.
STB was represented by its Senior Marketing Executive based in Reunion, Bernadette Honore, and its main partner at the event was Marines Voyages – a travel agency in Reunion.
Some 20 exhibitors representing destinations, hotels and other travel related businesses took part in the workshop. They had the opportunity to meet up with representatives of around 30 companies and propose holiday packages or incentive trips companies can avail of to motivate their employees.
Through its permanent presence in Reunion, STB has been participating in various MICE-targeted workshops and has been witnessing growing interest in the destination from this segment.
The interest was further highlighted at the recent workshop where STB and its partner Marines Voyages secured bookings for Seychelles for 2018 and 2019.
STB’s Senior Marketing Executive, Bernadette Honore said: “Through this workshop STB has been able to push Seychelles into the shopping basket of this particular segment and the STB office in Reunion will invest more efforts into tapping further into this market, which presents huge potential for Seychelles.”
In line with its marketing strategy of promoting things to do in Seychelles, STB also took the opportunity to present the companies that turned up for the workshop with its ‘Hiking in Seychelles’ guidebook that was launched last year.
It is to be noted that through its presence in Reunion, coupled with the support of travel trade professionals, STB has been able to ascertain the potential of not only the MICE segment, but other markets as well, including leisure travellers and honeymooners. The workshop is one of several activities that have been implemented at the very start of the year 2018 as STB works to consolidate each of these specific markets.
