The Seychelles Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) was established in 1938. Today it is a registered association of businesses operating in Seychelles and is the most representative intermediary body of the private sector with a wide membership of some 220 members which includes all the main economic operators in the country as well as the main professional organisations and associations. The Chamber, as it is more commonly known, is run by a Secretariat headed by a Secretary General whilst policy issues are determined by a 16-member Council of Members elected annually from the Chamber’s membership. The primary objective of the Chamber is to promote and protect all types of business and investment in Seychelles. Its lobbying activities are focussed on the creation of an economic environment most conducive to successful business and wealth creation. In this respect it has made significant inputs in the Investment Code and regularly submits opinions to Government on issues relating to the macro- and meso-economic issues in the country. As a business watchdog, it also keeps a keen eye on national and international developments affecting business in Seychelles. The Chamber’s vision is “...
